Week 8 Reading and Writing

Looking Back

I would say that writing for this class is harder than I anticipated. There are some days where I feel inspired and the writing really flows. Other times I really struggle to even come up with an idea and then I absolutely cannot write a story. I think that is pretty classic writer's block though. I think my use of the blogger has definitely gotten better and I like my blog. It fits the theme I decided for it which was just the color purple.

The thing I have enjoyed the most this semester is the reading. I really do love to read fairytales and folktales. Some of the stories have really inspired me and surprised me. I loved the 22 Goblins reading from the Middle Eastern and Indian week. Those stories were really surprising and fun. I loved the riddle format.

I've also enjoyed creating my storybook more than I thought I would. When I first heard about the project I kind of thought I would dread it and not have any ideas but I was actually really excited by the idea I came up. I think suitor test fairy tales can be so fun and I really enjoy reading and writing about them. I'm excited to see how my project comes out at the end!

I really like this picture mostly because I just think it's funny. His cape makes me laugh and the smile on his face is so mischevious it really embodied the spirit of the goblins I read about.

Looking Forward
I think I need to stop putting off writing so much. Once I start writing I get kind of inspired and it comes easier than I think it's going to. Plus it's easier to just edit or change what's written than it is to try and plan it all out in my head.

In this kingdom, there also lived a king renowned for his riches and power. One day the king came to the village to collect taxes where he caught sight of the girl. Struck by her beauty, he went to her parents and demanded her hand in marriage. While her parents did not want to force their daughter into a marriage, they did not wish to enrage such a powerful king. They went to their daughter and informed her of the king’s demands. The girl asked to speak to the king herself. The next day the king met the girl at her home. Once again struck by her beauty, the king demanded, “Be my bride.” The girl responded, “My lord, I am but the daughter of a lowly farmer, I am not worthy of being your bride. My parents do not have any money to their name.” The king was so in love with her beauty he granted her all the jewels in the castle treasury. The next d...
